Of the 189 international entries Nicola and Cameron’s entry ‘A Line in the Landscape’ is one of 15 finalists.

The competition brief asked students and young professionals of architecture and design to enter in this ideas competition for a centre in the Amazon. The objective of this competition was to enable observation and learning of the Amazon Ecosystem.

In response to the brief, Nicola and Cameron designed a 400 metre long pier structure that bridges through a section of the rainforest. The intervention has been developed to encourage engagement with the landscape.

The long, 7 metre wide, form offers an experiential cross section of the landscape; from the waters edge to the tree tops. Visitors and researchers are encouraged to observe the variations of the landscape through different views above, below and within the ecological strip.
